Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year meal takes place at the home of the eldest family member. Every region has its specialties, and every family has its recipes: dumplings, fish, rice cakes. The celebration must last until after midnight, and the table must be covered with food.

I suggest sweet and sour shrimp, delicious when enjoyed with a glass of Trémaille.

The sauce

  • 6 tbsp ketchup
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • pepper to taste

Recipe

  • Sauté 500 g of shrimp in a little oil and set aside
  • Remove the grease with a paper towel
  • Cook the sauce in the same pan for 1 to 2 minutes,
  • Add the shrimp
  • Serve with rice and steamed vegetables of your choice
