St. Gallen sausages and potato salad

Since my student years in St. Gallen, I have kept up an old "typically Swiss-German" culinary tradition that I enjoy preparing from time to time in summer: grilled Olma bratwurst served with potato salad. Until now, I was missing the perfect wine to pair with this dish.Soleterno, with its richness and concentration, finally fills that gap!

For the potato salad:

  • For the dressing, mix 2 tbsp mustard, 3 tbsp vinegar, 3 tbsp mayonnaise, 3 tbsp olive oil, 1 finely chopped onion, 1 clove of garlic, 1 dl lukewarm stock, then season with salt and pepper
  • Mix the dressing with the potatoes and let the preparation cool in the refrigerator
  • Before serving, add 3 tbsp finely chopped chives

For the St. Gallen sausages:

  • Nothing could be simpler than grilling them... The most complicated part is rather getting hold of them... But recently everything has become easier, and it is no longer necessary to travel "to" St. Gallen. Indeed, Metzgerei Schmid, one of the region’s renowned butcher’s shops, sends them directly to you by post. Delivery guaranteed within 48 hours!

In the pure St. Gallen tradition, the Olma bratwurst stands on its own. It is therefore not recommended to serve it with ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise! Simply a good glass of Soleterno.😊
