Casimir Platzer found himself in the spotlight in March 2020 when the health crisis erupted. As the President of GastroSuisse, representing the interests of the restaurant and hotel industry, he had to manage the anxieties and expectations of professionals in the sector. It was a complex, entirely new, and challenging task. As a hotel owner himself (the Victoria in Kandersteg), he was able to understand and feel the frustrations of his colleagues. <\/p>\n\n

1. What is your favorite wine?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n For white, I love Sauvignon Blanc, and for red, I have a preference for Merlot. While the Ticinese produce magnificent wines with this grape variety, which I particularly appreciate, the Valaisans also do very well! Like the Merlot Clos St-Marcel<\/a>. I also have a passion for C\u0153ur de Domaines Blanc<\/a>, a truly great wine that gives me a feeling of absolute happiness every time I taste it! <\/p>\n\n 2. With whom do you enjoy drinking wine?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n My wife Muriel, of Alsatian origin, is an exceptional taster. She has a very fine nose and an excellent palate. It's a pleasure to taste with her. Of course, I also enjoy drinking wine with my best friends. <\/p>\n\n 3. At what time of day do you prefer to drink wine?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n After a day of work at the hotel, the best time is, of course, the evening. First during the aperitif, then with the meal. These are perfect and very important moments of relaxation for me. <\/p>\n\n 4. What is your first memory related to wine?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n It's not the first memory, but one of my best! 15 years ago, during a tasting at Rouvinez with Jean-Bernard Rouvinez and some friends, all passionate about wines. It was followed by a fantastic dinner at La Grotte restaurant in Sierre. Afterwards, we walked the wine trail from Sierre to Salquenen. And to conclude this magnificent day, we had supper at Ch\u00e2teau de Villa, the legendary Sierre location that offers raclettes made with the best cheeses from Valais. A memorable day. <\/p>\n\n
