Born in Martigny to an English father and a Scottish mother, he put on his first skis at the age of 5 and specialized in slalom early on. It is a demanding discipline, much like his own journey.

A unique record in Swiss alpine skiing

In 2020, Daniel Yule made Swiss skiing history by becoming the most successful Swiss slalom skier of all time in the World Cup, with four victories to his credit. This feat confirms his status among the great names of the discipline.

As an ambassador for the house of Charles Bonvin in Sion, he takes advantage of a break in his sporting calendar to share his vision, balancing performance, high standards, and the pleasures of the table.

Skiing and wine: a balance of passion and sharing

When he is not on the slopes, Daniel Yule enjoys moments of conviviality over a good glass of wine, always surrounded by family or friends. He was, in fact, accompanied by Christophe Bonvin, a former footballer and ambassador for the house of Bonvin, with whom he shares a long-standing friendship.

Daniel Yule's wine preferences

A personal favorite: Syrah Grand Cru Ville de Sion

For Daniel Yule, there is no doubt: Syrah Grand Cru Ville de Sion is his favorite wine. It is a wine he likes to pair with a fine beef entrecôte, for a food and wine pairing he describes as exceptional.

Moments of celebration

After a victory, it is time for simplicity and sharing: a fondue with friends accompanied by Fendant, notably the Sans Culotte, is part of his rituals. He also appreciates Johannisberg, particularly the Mont Fleuri, which he considers perfect for this type of convivial meal.

Wine and strong emotions: how far would he go?

When asked if he would be willing to splurge on a bottle of wine, Daniel Yule qualifies his answer: it all depends on the extent. He nevertheless shares a wonderful anecdote about purchasing a bottle of Sassicaia 1992 for the 30th birthday of his friend Justin Murisier, which they plan to share with a few guests.

A story that perfectly illustrates his relationship with wine: a blend of passion, friendship, and exceptional moments.

At only 30 years old, Daniel Yule has already built an impressive career on the ski slopes.
